Home Maintenance

A durable home-maintenance plan is built around water control, safe systems, seasonal preparation, and repeatable observation.

Monthly

  • Walk around the exterior and look for new damage, standing water, or blocked drainage.
  • Look below sinks and around water-using appliances for moisture.
  • Test smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Check heating and cooling filters and replace them when required.

Each season

  • Inspect roof edges, gutters, downspouts, grading, and visible foundation areas.
  • Check exterior penetrations, windows, doors, and weather seals.
  • Prepare plumbing and outdoor systems for freezing temperatures where applicable.
  • Document cracks, stains, movement, and unusual equipment behavior.

Annually

  • Service combustion equipment and chimneys as recommended.
  • Review electrical, plumbing, ventilation, and structural concerns with qualified professionals.
  • Update your maintenance records and plan upcoming repairs.
